What a Day's Journey in Indonesia

Shelly Meyer–Hand of Hope International Relations Officer

We started our day very early and flew to Semarang in Central Java, Indonesia. Then we boarded a truck for a 2 hour journey up into the remote predominantly moslem mountain region of the Pepe.

Then the fun began. The truck got stuck in the mud which left us with no choice but to walk the remaining hour. We were so thankful when about a half an hour into the walk a kind man gave us a ride. It was all worth it when we arrived to beautiful smiling children who were awaiting our arrival. We fed them and handed out gifts then the journey back. All in all the journey took 12 hours but it was so rewarding to know those kids are being helped.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
