Patience in Ethiopia

Scott Norling – Director, Joyce Meyer Ministries India Office

Recently I had the privilege of meeting Patience at the Hand of Hope Medical Center in central Ethiopia. Patience, who at 8 months of age weighs less than 10 pounds, is struggling for her life. She has left an image of helplessness with me I will never forget. It was humbling to watch community volunteers’ labor to prepare bags of food that go to families like Patience’s that will save lives and restore hope. I mentioned privilege because although she does not know it, she has reminded me of the simple priority of loving people first and always ... the message of God’s love often lies in the doing.

Dr. Honeck and his team at the Hand of Hope Medical Center are restoring dignity and hope to over 100,000 people in this province by providing food, medical services and counseling; they are saving lives, they are living out Gods plan of love and redemption. Today I know Patience has a chance at life because of the love of this amazing team. What a privilege to be a part of what God is doing here in Ethiopia.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
