Saving Children in Cambodia

Matt Bell – Chief Operating Officer, Hand of Hope

Nearly 4 years ago, our teams visited Phnom Penh, Cambodia and witnessed one of the most heart-breaking places they had ever seen. In the heart of the city is a huge garbage dump where children as young as 3 and 4 years old have no other choice than to scavenge amongst the trash for items they can sell just so they are able to eat. I had the opportunity to visit that very place and see the difference Hand of Hope is making.

For several years now, 2 coach buses retro-fitted as classrooms pull up to the trash dump to provide these children with basic education and a nutritious meal, and most importantly share Christ’s redeeming love every day. All of the children looked so healthy and were full of joy. This feeding project is literally saving the lives of children and giving them a hope for their future.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
