ACUNA, MEXICO

As we crossed into Mexico from Texas, my eyes were opened to the medical and spiritual needs of this area. We saw many patients during our four day Medical Missions outreach in Acuna. One woman in particular stood out to me. She came in with a sore on the bottom of her foot. When the doctor took the scalpel to open the wound, the woman didn’t feel any pain because the infection was so deep it had killed the nerve endings. The doctor was curious and decided to check her blood sugar. It was determined that she had diabetes and was almost comatose because her sugar count was so high. She was given antibiotics for the foot infection and will be given long term care. Without this outreach the woman might never have known that she was a diabetic and could possibly have gone into a diabetic coma and died. Praise God for the opportunity to help her.

Overall, more than 1,100 people were seen during this outreach. 163 of them were dental patients that had 135 teeth extracted. We also gave out 3,455 prescriptions. Finally, and most importantly, 400 people gave their lives to Jesus! What a great trip!
