HEALTH CARE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE NEW HEALING CENTER IN HAITI

Ashley Wilkins

JMM Medical Outreach Coordinator

The last day of clinic was great! We had the largest crowd yet and saw 720 patients today. We also had twenty people give their hearts to the Lord.

A woman with an old broken pair of crutches was given a brand new pair today and she was beside herself with joy when I handed her the new pair!

We have been giving out to patients eyeglasses that were donated from the Hand of Hope's eyeglass campaign. It was really cool to see firsthand the difference they are making around the world. To give someone back their vision is a true gift!

The worst part of my job is at the end of the day when I have to close the doors to the clinic and leave hundreds of people standing outside. But today that was not so difficult because I was able to tell them that they could come back to the Jesus Healing Center and receive good health care after we have gone. The people left happy knowing that quality health care is now available to them.

This has been a great outreach! To God be the glory!

HAND OF HOPE MEDICAL OUTREACH TOUCHES LIVES IN HAITI

Ashley Wilkins

JMM Medical Outreach Coordinator

The woman in this picture is pregnant with twins. She had an ultrasound by our OB/GYN today and we discovered one baby is breach, so she will need a c-section. She had never had an ultrasound and would not have known the baby was breach without it. We are taking her to the hospital to have the baby. Without the ultrasound and subsequent c-section, there is a good possibility that she and the babies would not have survived.

We had several emergencies today and had to rush two patients to the hospital. One woman was in heart and kidney failure and could hardly breathe. One of our dental patients had a horribly rotten tooth and as our dentist began to pull it out the infection went into his system and he began to go into shock. We stabilized him and took him to the Emergency Room. He should fully recover. A severely malnourished baby was brought in to the clinic. The baby was then taken to an infant hospital in Port Au Prince that mainly deals with malnutrition.

Update on Silien, the boy with the broken arm: He had an x-ray today and the fracture is through both bones in his arm and right near the elbow. The blood flow is very poor in that arm due to the break. Had he not been taken to the hospital, they would have had to amputate his arm. The boy's father was so thankful that he broke down crying. We were told that Haitian men rarely cry so that was a big deal.

We saw 621 patients today and had 7 people give their lives to the Lord!

YOUNG BOY RECEIVES HELP JUST IN TIME

Debbie Rodriguez

JMM Broadcast

Today we dedicated a beautiful new medical clinic at Love a Child Ministry in Fond Parisien, Haiti. This clinic’s monthly budget will be fully funded by Joyce Meyer Ministries partners. On our second day of the clinic the Hand of Hope team of 25 doctors and nurses saw more than 500 patients. One of the most heartbreaking stories was this twelve year old boy, Silien, who walked all the way to our clinic after hearing it advertised on the radio. Last week, he fell and broke his arm and his parents were unable to get him medical care. Someone in his village wrapped his arm in tree bark as a makeshift splint. We were able to take him to the hospital where he will receive the proper medical care so that he will have the use of his arm. The doctor says the break is very serious and that if he had waited much longer he may have been crippled for life. It has been one week since he broke it. Thanks to Joyce Meyer Ministries partners this brave little boy will be able to regain the use of his arm and will not suffer in pain. Thank you partners!

“REMEMBER THEY THAT ARE IN PRISON”

Testimony from Uganda Prison

I am a prisoner. Jesus met me from prison and I accepted him on 15th July 2003. Since then I have been to the High Court for the hearing of my case and have always been asking myself “Why God Why?” The letter that you sent to us entitled “You are not alone” encourages me a lot. Above all, I was transformed, sanctified and convicted so much by your book entitled “Why God Why?” I found all the answers I needed in it. From the time I read through that book I am not worried about anything anymore because my burden bearer Jesus does not need me to ask Him why! Now I can help counsel my fellow inmates to remain patient for all things work for the good of those that love the Lord.

You are fulfilling the scripture that says “remember they that are in prison”. Spiritually, you contributed a lot through your book to the deliverance of inmates. More than six people that I know were saved. The distribution of toothpaste, bathing soap and other things to the inmates has shown that your heart is with us in our suffering.

IN THE LAND OF THE "SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE"

David L. Meyer

There are well over 15,000 slums that house millions of people in the city of Mumbai, India. Hand of Hope has been working in many of these slums feeding, educating and sharing the love of Christ for years. Today I am visiting many of the children we care for. Jesus loves these people and so do we. With your help we continue to show that love.

GOD LOVES SRI LANKA

David L. Meyer

Today we had the privilege of visiting two of our three feeding programs here in the beautiful country of Sri Lanka. This country has been challenged by war, a devastating tsunami and the closing of hundreds of businesses due to the worldwide economic woes. With your support we are able to help some of the more destitute, especially the children. We operate a children's home, air our TV program in the Sinhalese language and distribute lots of Joyce's products. God is at work in Sri Lanka!

EXCITING NEWS!

David L. Meyer

Today we are very happy to announce the opening of our brand new hospital in Pursat, Cambodia. It has a one hundred bed capacity and our hope is to specialize in helping children and pregnant women. This has been a journey that started before Hope Cambodia in 2007. Cambodia has one of least developed healthcare systems in Asia. We are thankful to God for using Hand of Hope to help change that.

UPDATE FROM CAMBODIA

David L. Meyer

Yesterday was a very gratifying day. If you recall, in the summer of 2007 our team conducted a large countrywide outreach to Cambodia. During that time we visited a garbage dump where it was heartbreaking to see all the children living there. We left with resolve to help these kids. It took quite a while to develop a plan that would be effective due to the uniqueness of their lives in the dump. Several months ago we felt like we found it when we introduced the feeding buses. Every day two buses roll up into the dump to feed approximately 250 kids per day. In addition, we educate them, teach them about Jesus, provide new clothing when there is a need and have the means available for them to shower. So yesterday for the first time I had the privilege to see this outreach first hand and just let me say, “It is a job well done!" Congratulations to the Southeast Asia team who is making this happen. Also, thank you to everyone who supports Hand of Hope. You are making a difference in Cambodia!
