Another Great Year in Prison Ministry

Roy Lormis, Prison Outreach Supervisor

Another great year is drawing to a close and what a great year it has been, both in the United States and around the world.

I could never say thank you enough for all our volunteers, friends and partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries. You make it possible for us to be the hands of Christ extended to those who are often forgotten and forsaken. Most are truly grateful and can’t believe someone would travel hundreds and possibly thousands of miles to show a little love.

At one of the women’s prisons, we were allowed to have a service after passing out the gift bags, which include personal care items, one of Joyce’s books and an encouraging letter. Even before everyone had been brought into the room, several of the ladies were in tears as they looked through their bags and read the note from Dave and Joyce. They were touched that someone would actually think about them.

Throughout the U.S., we were able to pass out over 153,700 gift bags in 134 prisons. More than 8,600 made a decision to follow Christ through our chapel services. Our international outreach teams visited an additional 36 prisons, handing out more than 11,200 gift bags. More than 1,500 accepted Christ as their Savior!

Lives are being touched in amazing ways in prisons around the world. The smiles we get and the, “Thank yous,” we hear over and over as we pass out these simple gifts, let us know the inmates greatly appreciate this token of God’s love.

I love my job. I consider it such a great honor to visit these men and women in prison. I know together, through your vital support, we are making a difference in the lives of those we touch.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
