Being a beacon for Christ in Garissa, Kenya

Brad Senekal – Outreach Coordinator
JMM South Africa Office

In the Eastern part of Kenya, close to the Somalian border, lies Garissa, a staunchly Islamic community referred to as a “mini-Somalia”. Many Somalians have sought refuge across the border from the war in their country. The remote location of this community is one of the factors why poverty and illness (including HIV and TB) have had such devastating effects. As a result children have become orphans, with little access to care, food or a family.

Through partnership with New Life Homes, Joyce Meyer Ministries has been able to care for the orphaned and vulnerable children as well as those affected by HIV in this Muslim community. Not only do the children receive a daily meal and basic education, but they see and experience the love of Christ. Currently we are drilling a well for access to clean water, and building a HOPE CENTRE which will serve as a school, feeding point, and spiritual beacon for Christ. Thank you to our faithful partners who continue to make it possible for us to reach these communities!

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.
