As America celebrates its Independence Day let us be grateful for our freedom. Also say a prayer for all those around the world who do not have the same blessings.

Just this week I was in Lebanon visiting camps full of Syrian refugees. The civil war that is now 27+ months old has displaced almost a third of its 23 million people. Approximately 1.5 million of those have fled into neighboring Lebanon. In addition, the UN estimated in late 2011 that some 44 million people are displaced globally.

The Bible encourages us to not forget these people. That is why Hand of Hope/Joyce Meyer Ministries has partnered with Heart for Lebanon for many years. So when this tragedy started to unfold it was a natural fit to help them assist these precious people.

Let me tell you Faraj's story. He and his family are from the heavily destroyed city of Homs. He has been shot twice and had a grenade blow up close enough to him to spatter shrapnel into many parts of his body. With his life shattered, he fled to Lebanon where he lives in a makeshift tent with wife his and 7 children. I believe God spared his life for a purpose. Perhaps just so he could be told about Jesus.

Thank you friends and partners for enabling us to help the Farajes of the world.
