Childlike Faith in Niger

Shelly Meyer - Hand of Hope International Relations Officer

This is Cherifa. She is one of 900 children Hand of Hope is feeding in Niger everyday in partnership with Armies of God Ministries. Most of the children who attend these programs are from Muslim families, and Cherifa is no exception. Prior to going to the Armies of God Ministries daycare, she was sent to Koran school. Like most of the children we met at the program she now believes in Jesus and prays to Him daily. Cherifa, along with the other children in the daycare, are often beaten and threatened by their families to be sent back to Koran school if they speak about Jesus in their homes. Even still, they refuse to deny their faith.

I was deeply moved by the faith of the children and the spirit of God that filled these centers. They are so full of joy and love even though they are already being persecuted for believing in Jesus. Please pray for these precious little ones who are being raised up to bring the Good News of salvation to their nation.

Disaster Relief Help for Canada

Alberta, Canada recently experienced extensive flooding which was declared the worst in the history of this Western Canadian Province. More than 25 locations were under official state of emergency status, with numerous crisis relief centers opening as water levels rushed higher and evacuation orders were released in community after community.

More than 100,000 people were impacted. Many people were displaced from their homes due to flood waters, utility power failures, devastation from damages and the imminent dangers of associated health risks due to contamination.

Joyce Meyer Ministries/Hand of Hope, in partnership with First Assembly Church in Calgary, immediately reached out and got involved on the ground level by providing volunteer workers with meals. We also provided volunteers with equipment needed to prepare for restoration and rebuilding, from protective gear to the tools required to help clean. Other needs throughout the region are being assessed for Hand of Hope involvement as well, as relief efforts continue to be coordinated.

Thank you to our partners and friends for your incredible support throughout this time of crisis in so many homes and lives in Alberta, Canada.

Care for Abandoned Children in India

Amy Lee - Hand of Hope Children's Outreach Coordinator

I have the privilege of visiting Hand of Hope children’s homes around the world to see first-hand the care being provided to the precious children who live in them. I recently visited one of our homes in Izzathnagar, India where you are helping care for 22 children, ages 2 to 15.

The youngest at the home absolutely captured my heart. His name is Dominique, but everyone calls him Cherry. Pastor Ashok, who runs the home, says Cherry was found abandoned in front of a local Hindu temple. His leg was broken and at two years old he was left all alone. People in the community knew about our children’s home so they brought little Cherry there to be cared for. His leg is now completely healed and he is already vibrant and thriving, just like all of the other children.

Pastor Ashok cares tirelessly for these abandoned children; he knows what they are going through because he once lived in an orphanage himself. God used his circumstances to lead him to become a Pastor and later create a home for other abandoned children. We are honored to partner with Pastor Ashok to provide children a safe place to live, basic education, nutritious meals, and the love of Christ. Many of the children have high aspirations to become doctors, scientists, teachers, engineers and even an airline pilot. They said they want to get good jobs when they grow up so they can help even more kids.

I am amazed at how God has moved in the lives of these children. Thank you so much for helping us reach children like Cherry all around the world.

Remember the Refugee

As America celebrates its Independence Day let us be grateful for our freedom. Also say a prayer for all those around the world who do not have the same blessings.

Just this week I was in Lebanon visiting camps full of Syrian refugees. The civil war that is now 27+ months old has displaced almost a third of its 23 million people. Approximately 1.5 million of those have fled into neighboring Lebanon. In addition, the UN estimated in late 2011 that some 44 million people are displaced globally.

The Bible encourages us to not forget these people. That is why Hand of Hope/Joyce Meyer Ministries has partnered with Heart for Lebanon for many years. So when this tragedy started to unfold it was a natural fit to help them assist these precious people.

Let me tell you Faraj's story. He and his family are from the heavily destroyed city of Homs. He has been shot twice and had a grenade blow up close enough to him to spatter shrapnel into many parts of his body. With his life shattered, he fled to Lebanon where he lives in a makeshift tent with wife his and 7 children. I believe God spared his life for a purpose. Perhaps just so he could be told about Jesus.

Thank you friends and partners for enabling us to help the Farajes of the world.

Sharing the Gospel in Belarus

David Meyer - CEO Hand of Hope

Belarus, which was once part of the former USSR, is now a presidential republic yet it still remains one of the most communist countries in the region. Evangelical religion is very tightly controlled and as a result many ministers are restricted from sharing the good news of God’s love with the people here.

Even though we have not been able to broadcast our Enjoying Everyday Life television program on national stations in the country since 2008, our broadcast is able to reach many in Belarus through Russian satellites that carry the program. As a result, many of the people in Belarus know and love Joyce Meyer Ministries. This just goes to show how far reaching the impact of television truly is. With the help of local churches, we started distributing 32,000 Joyce Meyer books translated into Russian, including Battlefield of the Mind and Healing the Brokenhearted

Together we are making a difference in the lives of thousands of people in Belarus. Thank you to our partners and friends for making this possible.
