Rescuing Abandoned Babies in Uganda

Their lives were literally saved. Six and a half month old twins Joshua and Patricia now live safely at a brand new home for abandoned babies in Uganda but just days before, their father threatened to kill them and their mother if she did not get rid of the twins.

Baby Watoto Gulu became their safe haven. Many children will be rescued through this newly dedicated facility as Joyce Meyer Ministries works together with Watoto Child Care Ministries. 90 to 120 babies will eventually live here receiving all the physical, emotional, and spiritual care they need to one day become the future leaders of Uganda. One more way that together we are making a difference.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.

Zimbabwe: An Amazing Trip

We had an amazing experience during our recent visit to Zimbabwe. We are receiving so many stories of lives that have been forever changed by the events that took place on this trip. God moved in a way that only He can do, and the miracles we were able to witness were absolutely incredible.

Over the course of our one week clinic, our medical missions team saw a total of 3,227 medical and dental patients. 207 teeth were extracted and 1,927 dedicated their lives to Jesus. Patients not only received physical healings through the medical team but also through prayer, as each person was prayed for individually. An amazing move of God took place and blind people literally had their sight restored and deaf people were able to hear for the very first time.

In addition to our medical outreach, we had the opportunity to share the love of Jesus to thousands of prisoners in over 40 prisons in Zimbabwe. In fact, our prison team achieved a major milestone by distributing the 2 millionth hygiene gift bag. We were also able to spend some time at one of our feeding centers that distributes food and educates children on a daily basis. We ended the trip with a phenomenal festival that drew well over 400,000 people during the 3 days of meetings. Thank you partners for helping us bless the people of Zimbabwe. We truly believe we were able to bring hope and the love of Christ to this nation and it will never be the same…and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Over 100,000 sing happy birthday to Joyce

Led by her good friend Darlene Zschech, a huge crowd sang happy birthday to Joyce on the first night of our 3 day Festival of Life. The crowds grew every night and God’s presence was sweet. Many said that there had not been meetings like this in Harare, Zimbabwe ever and that history was being made. The cooperation of the churches and the government was incredible. Thanks to all who prayed as your prayers were answered. Zimbabwe’s best days are ahead! We stand humbled and honored that God chose us to be a part of all this.

2 Millionth Prison Bag Delivered

Eleven years ago we started a ministry journey to visit those who are in prison as the Bible instructs us to do. That journey has led us to 31 countries and every state in the USA. Today in the country of Zimbabwe, Dave and Joyce delivered the 2 millionth bag. These bags contain hygiene items as well as a book and a letter from Joyce specifically designed with inmates in mind. We are so grateful to all who have assisted in reaching this incredible goal.

Zimbabwe: Medical Missions Update

Hundreds of people in a small village in Zimbabwe have been able to receive free medical care this week due to the hard work of our medical team. In the few days we have been here, we have already seen God working mightily through the medical outreach to bring hope and healing to these hurting people.

Today a twelve year old boy named Rain was brought to our medical clinic in the only mode of transportation his family had, a humble wooden cart pulled by four donkeys. Rain was a strong, healthy boy until he suffered severe brain damage from meningitis two months ago, leaving him bed ridden for life. In a developing nation like Zimbabwe, it is a huge challenge for a family to care for a bed ridden family member. Our team cleansed his bed sores, washed his wounds, gave him physical therapy, sent his mother home with a large supply of wound care supplies, and prayed with them. Rain and his mother left the medical clinic smiling and thanking God for the care he received today.

Providing Solutions in Bangladesh

Some of the underprivileged children of Bangladesh receive nutritious food and education through the three Joyce Meyer Ministries feeding centers in the Gopalgnj and Gazipur provinces. The emphasis at these feeding centers is on education as well as health and nutrition. The centers also help the children by creating an interest in them to lead a life with good values. Many lives are being transformed.

Six year old Torikul Sheik comes from a family of seven. Despite his great efforts, it is difficult for Torikul’s father to feed the family each day with his meager income. In addition, education for his children is something Torikul’s father just cannot afford. However, these circumstances have never hindered Torikul Sheik from dreaming. One of the Joyce Meyer Ministries feeding centers in Bangladesh has played a vital role in making this family of seven happy and content by providing them with basic needs of food and education.

Torikul is known as a very bright and prompt student by his teachers. This happy child thanks the Joyce Meyer Ministries feeding program for turning his life around. Visit our website for more information about Hand of Hope.

Helping in Cambodia

Kuy Pich is sixty two years old, his wife Pich Soeurn is fifty six. They live in Kampong Cham. Through a horrible family disagreement, Kuy Pich was severely injured when he had acid poured on his face. As a result, he was blinded, his ear canals closed and his face was disfigured. His relatives told him about the Hand of Hope Health Clinic in Pursat. The trip from his village to the health center was difficult, but well worth it. He is now receiving much needed free medical treatment for his wounds.

While he is still blind, treatment for his face and ears is ongoing. “My wife and I are very thankful for the care I am getting,” Kuy Pich says. “We could not afford to pay for any of this treatment. Thank you to the kind physicians who work here and many thanks to all of the supporters of this center.”

Sharing the Gospel Message in Iran

A former Muslim woman living in Iran called in to the call center to say she had been watching the Enjoying Everyday Life program in Farsi on TV and that Joyce’s messages had totally changed her life. It was suggested to her that she should witness to her friends and tell them how her life had changed. She said, “No, I don’t need to because my husband, who is still a Muslim, does that. He is not a believer but he tells our Muslim family and friends all the time how amazed he is at how much I’ve changed since I’ve started watching these programs. He is even telling others to watch the program. He says I’m the best wife and that I respect him, take care of our children and home and that I’ve changed into a new woman.”

Others in Iran have shared with us how much Joyce’s messages have helped them. One person wrote to us, “We always pray for Joyce and for the great work that has been done by her in the Iranian people’s lives. I don’t feel that Joyce is in another country; rather she is near us in Iran. Iranian people, especially the women, love Joyce and pray sincerely for her.”

Lives Changed: Prison Ministry Update

During a recent prison outreach we were able to distribute over 19,700 gift bags to the inmates and were blessed to see more than 210 of them accept Jesus into their lives.

Prison life is incredibly difficult and complex. We spoke with a 19 year old man who just the night before had attempted to commit suicide. In the course of the conversation, he told us that he was forced to join a gang in that prison. If he had refused he would have been beaten or possibly killed. His initiation into the gang required him to assault a prison guard. He was put in solitary because of that attack and that was when he tried to end his life. We were able to share the love of Christ with him and tell him that God has an awesome plan for his life.

It is such a blessing to us to be able to reach out to people like this. They may have done things—some very bad things---that have landed them in prison but they need to know about the freedom that Christ has for them. Thanks to our partners for supporting us in these efforts.
