China Earthquake Update: Relief to the 'Ends of the Earth'

Shelly Meyer – Hand of Hope International Relations Officer

Hand of Hope was able to team up with our ministry partners in China to bring relief to victims of the earthquake that hit the Qinghai province of China in April, 2010. We were able to provide emergency relief packages to 100 families. The packages contain 2 sub-zero sleeping bags, an emergency aid kit, medicine, noodles, a solar light with a charging kit, cooking oil, and a cooking pan.

Most of the people who live in the remote village where the packages were distributed are Tibetan Buddhists, many of whom had never heard the name of Jesus. Our ministry partners were able to distribute a total of 600 packages and have been able to establish a small home group and a primary school in the village as well. Many children are learning about Jesus through the school and bringing that knowledge home to their families. Thanks to the partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries, relief and eternal life are coming to areas that many would consider the “ends of the earth”.

Hand of Hope is the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Our goal is simply to help as many hurting people as we possibly can, to alleviate human suffering and to help Christians grow in their faith.

Flood Relief in Acuña, Mexico

Shelly Meyer – Hand of Hope International Relations Officer

In July of this year massive rain and runoff from Tropical Storm Alex caused extreme flooding in Acuña, Mexico. Rivers were swollen to full flood stage leaving victims stranded and in desperate need of support and supplies. Acuña was overtaken by arroyos, fast-flowing waters. Several requests for assistance were made.

Joyce Meyer Ministries has partnered with John Novara’s ministry, His Heart and Hands Ministry, to assist in their current relief efforts. His Heart and Hands Ministry is working to assist victims who have lost so much and need our help by providing food, clean-up and disaster relief. Together we are sharing the love of Christ by helping to make a difference in the lives of those affected by the flood.

Sharing the Gospel Message in Lebanon

David L. Meyer – CEO Hand of Hope

We recently heard from a therapist in Beirut who said, “I was receiving people for counseling and therapy, and was amazed to hear them talking about you! They are not believers,...but while zapping through the channels they come up on ‘Al Hayat’ TV, heard you and started following your sermons daily. I’m writing to you to encourage your ministry in the Middle East. Although you might not know how many people exactly are saved and had life changing experience, how many people are thirsty to know Jesus who changed your life, but God is moving to touch people in my country through your words.”

Thanks to our partners for helping us bring the gospel of Jesus Christ into remote areas around the world.

Saving Little Namoi - Lamu Island, Kenya

Brad Senekal – Outreach Coordinator
JMM South Africa Office

On the small isolated island of Lamu in Kenya, little Namoi has had a tough start in life. She lost her mom to Tuberculosis soon after being born and her father was too sickly and poor in his old age to care for her. At 7 months old, frail, ill and extremely malnourished, Namoi joined our children’s project. Through the faithful giving of our partners she has received daily meals, basic education and most importantly both experiences and hears daily of the love of Christ! Almost 2 years later and Namoi is healthy, well-fed and content. Despite being raised on an island rife with poverty, and that is 99% Muslim, she will grow up knowing Jesus is her provider, that she is beautiful and loved.

We thank God that through the support of partners and friends we are able to change the destiny of precious children like Namoi. With that support we are also restoring a well and building a HOPE CENTRE which will serve as a school, care centre and a church in Lamu. Thanks to Nairobi Lighthouse Church and all our partners and friends who continue to give to make this possible!
